AlightBible Study, Prayers and Guided Meditations

Alight collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no way to contact you.

That is not a promise made carefully so it can be broken later. There is no networking code in the app at all. It cannot send your reading anywhere, because it cannot send anything anywhere.

What is collected

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no email address, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code of any kind inside the app.

Alight does not ask for your microphone, camera, contacts, photos or location, and is not built to be able to use them.

What stays on your phone

Alight remembers a few things so that it is useful when you come back to it:

All of it is written to the app's own private storage on your device. None of it is transmitted, because there is nothing in the app capable of transmitting it.

The internet

Alight never connects to the internet. The whole Bible, every prayer and every recorded meditation is already inside the app when you download it. Turn on airplane mode and nothing is lost. This is deliberate, and it is for the sake of people who cannot safely be seen reading scripture. There is no record of your reading anywhere, because no record is ever made.

Backups

If you have iCloud Backup switched on, your phone includes Alight's data in its backup, the same as it does for your other apps. That backup belongs to you, sits under your Apple Account, and is covered by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. Alight neither reads nor reaches it.

If you would rather your highlights and kept prayers were not backed up at all, turning Alight off in Settings, then your name, then iCloud, then iCloud Backup, will leave them on the device only.

Removing everything

Delete the app. Everything it stored goes with it, and there is no copy held anywhere else, by anyone.

Children

Alight is safe at any age. It gathers nothing from anybody, children included, and there is nothing in it to buy.

The App Store

Apple reports how many times the app has been downloaded, and in which countries, as totals only. It is not possible to tell who anyone is from that. Reviews you write on the App Store are shown to us the way Apple shows them to everyone.

If this ever changes

This page would change first, and the date at the top would change with it. Should a future version of Alight ever need to send anything anywhere, it will ask you plainly, before it does, and you will be free to say no and carry on using everything else.

Asking
